Given:

Speed of ball = 13 km/h

Hitting time = 3 s

Speed of person = 7 km/h

Formula Used:

Speed = Distance/Time

Concept Used:

If two objects are moving in the same direction with speeds S₁ and S₂,

Their relative speed is S₁ – S₂

Calculation:

Relative speed = 13 – 7 = 6 km/h

⇒ 6 × 5/18 = 5/3 m/s

Using the above Formula,

Distance = 5/3 × 3 = 5 m

∴ The person was standing 5 m away earlier.
