Correct Answer - Option 4 : 20 cm

Given:

The side of the square is increased by 10 cm

Concept Used:

Area of square = Side × Side

Calculation:

Let side of Square is X cm

Now area of Square is X2

If side is increased by 10cm then new area is 500 cm2 more than old area.

we get that,

⇒ (X + 10)= X2 + 500

⇒ X2 + 100 + 20X = X2 + 500

⇒ 20X = 400

⇒ X = 20

∴  The required side of the square is 20cm
