Best answer
Correct Answer - Option 1 : Rs. 1250

Given:

Money spent on rice = 20%

Money left = Rs. 400

Concept Used:

Total percentage is 100%.

Calculations:

Let the total money that Alisha had be Rs. x.

Money spent on rice = 20%

⇒ Remaining money = (100 - 20)% = 80%

Money spent on cooking oils = 25% of 80%

Similarly, Money spent on other essential items = 35% of 80%

⇒ Total money spent = (25% + 35%) of 80%

⇒ Total money spent = 60% of 80%

Remaining money = (100 - 60)% of 80%

⇒ Remaining money = 40% of 80% of Rs. x

Now, 40% of 80% of Rs. x = Rs. 400

⇒ x = Rs. 400 × (100/40) × (100/80)

⇒ x = Rs. 1250

∴ The total amount of money that Alisha had is Rs. 1250.
