Correct Answer - Option 3 : Rs 1500

Given:

Adidas = 25% + XYZ

Adidas discount = 25%

XYZ discount = 30%

Difference between adidas and XYZ selling price = Rs 285

Adidas marked up = 10%

Formula used:

Marked price – (discount × marked price/ 100) = Selling price

Calculation:

Let marked up price of XYZ shoes be X

⇒ Marked up price of adidias shoes = X × (1 + 0.25)

⇒ Marked up price of XYZ shoes = 1.25 × X

⇒ Selling price of adidas shoes = 1.25X × (1 – 0.25)

⇒ Selling price of adidas shoes = (5/ 4)X × (3/ 4)

⇒ Selling price of adidas shoes = 15 × X/ 16

⇒ Selling price of XYZ shoes = (7 × X/ 10)

⇒ Selling price of XYZ shoes = 7X/ 10

⇒ (15X/ 16) – (7X/ 10) = 285

⇒ (75X – 56X)/ 80 = 285

⇒ 19X/ 80 = 285

⇒ X = 285 × 80/ 19

⇒ X = 1200

⇒ Marked price of adidas shoes = (125/100) × 1200 = 1500

∴ Marked up price of adidas = 1500
