B starts 5 hours after A

CONCEPT:

When two objects are moving in the same direction the relative speed is the difference between their individual speeds.

FORMULA USED:

Speed = Distance/Time

CALCULATION:

Distance traveled by A in 5 hrs = 12 × 5 = 60 km

B follows A at a speed of = 15 - 12 = 3 km/h

Time taken by B to meet A = 60/3 = 20 hours

Distance covered by B in 20 hrs = 15 × 20 = 300 km

Time taken by C to cover 300km = 300/25 = 12 hours

C should start = 20 - 12 = 8 hours after B

∴ C should start 8 hours after B.

Quantity B

(9 × 2/3) + 2

⇒ 6 + 2 = 8
