Correct Answer - Option 1 : 40%

Given:

Percentage of married men = 25%

Percentage of married women = 35%

Concept Used:

When one male marries only one female and vice-versa, then the number of married males is equal to the number of married females.

Formula Used:

Assuming x > y

Percentage of x more than y = [(x – y)/y] × 100

Calculations:

Let the total population of men and women be x and y respectively.

Percentage of married men = 25%

Percentage of married women = 35%

⇒ 25% of x = 35% of y

⇒ x : y = 7 : 5

Percentage of men more than women = [(7 – 5)/5] × 100

⇒ Percentage of men more than women = 40%

∴ The percentage of the population of men more than the population of women is 40%.
