Total 11 persons including Arun went to celebrate a birthday party in a restaurant, Arun spends Rs.550 but run short of cash the other remaining persons gives 11 rupees each, then find the average amount spend by them and also the amount Arun has to spend if the average amount paid was same and everyone else would have paid Rs.1 more?

Correct Answer - Option 3 : 60, 540

Total amount spent by Arun = Rs.550

Remaining 10 friends spent Rs.11 each

∴ Total amount spent by them = 550 + (11 × 10) = Rs.660

∴ Average amount spent by them = 660/11 = 60

Now, the average amount spend is same and everyone has paid Rs.1 more

∴ Amount spent by 10 friends = 12 × 10 = Rs.120

Total amount spent = Rs.660

∴ Amount spent by Arun = 660 – 120 = 540

∴ The average amount spent by them is Rs.60 and the amount Arun has to spend is Rs.540
