Correct Answer - Option 1 : 40

Given

A bag contains an equal number of coins of 50 paise, 25 paise, 20 paise and 5 paise coins. The total value is Rs. 40.

Concept used

Ratio and proportion

Calculation:

Let x be the number of each type

The bag has an equal number of coins.

50 paise = 1/2 Rupee

25 paise = 1/4 Rupee

20 paise = 1/5 Rupee

5 paise = 1/20 Rupee

As per the question,

⇒ \(\frac{x}{2} + \frac{x}{4} + \frac{x}{5} + \frac{x}{{20}} = 40\)

⇒ 10x + 5x + 4x + x = 40 × 20

⇒ 20x = 800

⇒ x = 40

∴ Each type of coins = 40.
