Given:

Total number of athletes he required = 4200

At present,

Number of male athletes = 2400

Number of female athletes = 400

Formula Used∶

If a : b :: c : d

Product of Extremes = Product of Means

Calculation ∶

Number of male athletes = 2400

Number of female athletes = 400

At present, total staff = 2800

The strength he required = 4200

Let the total number of female athletes he required be x.

So, the proportion will be

2800/4200 = 400/x

x = (400 × 4200)/2800 = 600

So, he required 600 - 400 = 200 more female athletes.

∴ 200 more female athletes be required to maintain the same ratio.
