Concept used

Average

Calculation

The average age of a man and his son is 60 years.

\(\frac{{{\rm{man\ +\ }}{\rm{ son }}}}{2} = 60\)

The ratio of their age be 13x and 7x

⇒ 13x + 7x = 60 × 2

⇒ 20x = 120

⇒ x = 6

Sons's age = 7x

Son's age = 7 × 6 = 42 years
