Correct Answer - Option 4 : Bone marrow

The correct answer is Bone Marrow.

  • Bone marrow is required for removing unused or damaged platelet.

  • Bone Marrow
    • It is the soft tissue present inside the Medullary cavities of a bone.
    • It is mainly present in the hip and thigh bones.
    • It produces immature cells called Stem cells that can transform into various kinds of cells later on.
    • Mesenchymal and Hematopoietic are the two types of stem cells produced by Bone Marrow.
    • Mesenchymal transform into fat cartilage and bones whereas Hematopoietic turn into Blood cells (RBC, WBC, and Platelets).
    • Redbone marrow produces all red blood cells and platelets and around 60–70% of lymphocytes in human adults. Other lymphocytes begin life in the red bone marrow and become fully formed in the lymphatic tissues, including the thymus, spleen, and lymph nodes.
      • Together with the liver and spleen, red bone marrow also plays a role in getting rid of old red blood cells.
