Correct Answer - Option 1 : 20

Given

Selling price of article at x% profit = Rs 720

Selling price of article at (x + 5)% profit = Rs 750

Formula Used

Profit % = (profit/cp) × 100

Profit = sp - cp

Calculation

⇒ difference in profit = 5%

⇒ [(750 - cp)/cp] - [(720 - cp)/cp] = 5/100

⇒ 30/cp = 5/100

⇒ cp = Rs 600

⇒ x = (720 - 600)/600 × 100

⇒ x = 20%

∴ the value of x is 20
