Best answer
Correct Answer - Option 4 : 1.578 N

The correct answer is option 4) i.e. 8.83 g/cm3

CONCEPT:

  • Density (ρ) is defined as the amount of mass of an object contained in a given unit of volume.
  • The density of an object is given by

\(⇒ ρ = \frac{m}{V}\)

Where m is the mass of the object and V is the volume.

CALCULATION:

Given that:

Density of ethyl alcohol, ρ = 789 kg/m3 = 0.789 g/cm3 = 0.789 g/mL

Volume, V = 200 mL

  • Mass of ethyl alcohol in the beaker,

⇒ m = ρ × V = 0.789 × 200 = 157.8 g = 0.1578 kg

 Weight = mg = 0.1578 × 10 = 1.578 N

  • 1000 kg/m3 = 1 g/cm3
  • 1 g/cm3 = 1 g/mL
