Find the equation of latus rectum  of parabola  y2 = 30x .

Correct Answer - Option 2 : 2x - 15 = 0

Concept: 

Parabola,  y2 = 4ax, where a > 0, then  

Equation of latus rectum,  x - a = 0

Parabola, y2 = - 4ax, where a > 0, then 

Equation of latus rectum, x + a = 0 

Calculation: 

Given parabolic equation, y2 = 30x  

On comparing with standard equation,  y2 = 4ax, we get a =  \(\frac{15}{2}\) 

We know that equation of latus rectum, x - a = 0  

⇒ x - \(\frac{15}{2}\) = 0 

 2x - 15 = 0 .

The correct option is 2.
