Correct Answer - Option 3 : 52

Given:

The sum of the ages of father and son is 74. After 8 years father will be twice as old as the son.

Calculation:

Let, the age of father be x year

⇒ Age of the son is (74 - x) year

After 8 year age of father will be (x + 8) years

After 8 years age of son will be (74 - x + 8) = (82 - x) years

Accordingly,

2 × (82 - x) = (x + 8)

⇒ 164 - 2x = x + 8

⇒ 3x = 156

⇒ x = 52

∴ The present age of the father is 52 years.
