Correct Answer - Option 5 : x = y or relationship between x and y cannot be established.

Given:

I. x2 + 33x + 252 = 0

II. y2 + 49y + 544 = 0

Calculation:

I. x2 + 33x + 252 = 0

⇒ x2 + 21x + 12x + 252 = 0

⇒ x (x + 21) + 12(x + 21) = 0

⇒ (x + 21) (x + 12) = 0

⇒ x = -21, -12

II. y2 + 49y + 544 = 0

⇒ y2 + 32y + 17y + 544 = 0

⇒ y(y + 32) + 17(y + 32) = 0

⇒ (y + 32) (y + 17) = 0

⇒ y = -32, -17

Comparison between x and y (via Tabulation):

x

y

Relation

-21

-32

x > y

-21

-17

x < y

-12

-32

x > y

-12

-17

x > y

x = y or relationship between x and y cannot be established.
