Correct Answer - Option 1 : 1

Formula used:

The speed of the boat the downstream = x + y km/hr

The speed of the boat in the upstream = x – y km/hr

Here, x → The speed of the boat in the still water

y → The speed of the current

Calculation:

Now, A/Q

x + y = 8      ----(1)

And, x – y = 6     ----(2)

Adding eq (1) and eq (2)

x + y + x – y = 8 + 6

⇒ 2x = 14

⇒ x = 7 km/hr

Putting the value of x in eq (1) then,

y = 1 km/hr

∴ The speed of the current is 1 km/hr
