Given:

Percentage of votes earned by BJP = 55%

Number of votes by which BJP won the election = 2500

Calculation:

Let the total votes casted be ‘a’

According to the question,

⇒ Percentage of votes earned by AAP = (100 – 55)%

⇒ Percentage of votes earned by AAP = 45%

⇒ Difference of votes between BJP and AAP = 55 – 45 = 10%

⇒ 10% of a = 2500

⇒ 10/100 × a = 2500

⇒ a = 25000

∴ The total number of votes casted in the election was 25,000
