Raman's age is twice to the age of his daughter Shruti. If ten years ago Raman's age was three times to the age of Shruti, then what is the present age of Shruti?

Let Shruti's age is  ‘x’ years.

So, Raman’s age = 2x years

Age of Raman ten years ago was (2x – 10) years and that of Shruti was (x – 10) years.

According to question:

2x – 10 = 3(x – 10)

=> 2x – 10 = 3x – 30

=> 2x – 3x = -30 + 10

=> -x = - 20

=> x = 20

So, present age of Shruti is 20 years.

Hence, ‘20 years’ is the correct answer.
