Correct Answer - Option 1 : 21 km

Given

Speed of Bolt = 7 kmph

Speed of Jordan = 6 kmph

Bolt finish the race 30 min before Jordan.

Formula Used

Time = Distance / Speed

Calculation

Let the distance covered to finish the race be x km.

Bolt finish the race 30 min before the Jordan finish.

Time difference = Time taken by Bolt – Time taken by Jordan

⇒ 1 / 2 = (x / 6) – (x / 7)

⇒ 1 / 2 = (7x – 6x) / 42

⇒ x = 42 / 2 = 21 km

∴ The distance that they both have to cover to finish the race is 21 km.
