In a shoe factory one male will do the maximum amount of work as one female will do in three days. A child will do one half of the work on daily basis as a female. If a manager of the factory hires 48 people in which males, females and children are in the ratio 8 ∶ 5 ∶ 3 to complete the order and pays Rs. 5490 at the end of the day's work, what must the daily salary of a child be. It is given that the daily salary are proportional to the amount of work done?

Given∶

One man can do as a woman can do in 3 days.

A child does one- half the work in a day as a woman.

Total number of workers = 48

Ratio of Males, Females and Children = 8 ∶ 5 ∶ 3

Total money distribute of among all workers = Rs. 5490

Concept of Linear equations.

Calculation∶

Let work done by a male in 1 day = x

Then, work done by female in 1 day = x/3

work done by a child in 1 day = x/6

Total worker hired = 48

Given ratio = 8 ∶ 5 ∶ 3

No. of males = (8 × 48)/16 = 24

No. of females = (5 × 48)/16 = 15

No. of Children = (3 × 48)/16 = 9

Now, work done by 24 males = 24x

work done by 15 females = 15x/3 = 5x

work done by 9 children = 9x/6 = 3x/2

Total amount given to 9 children = [5490 × 3x/2] / [24x + 5x + 3x/2] = (5490 × 3x)/61x = Rs. 270

Daily salary given to a child = 270/9 = Rs. 30

∴ Rs. 30 will be given to a child at the end of day.
