Correct Answer - Option 3 : 36

Given :

Ram can complete the work in 60 days

Shyam can complete the work in 45 days

Concept used :

Person's per day work = Total work/Number of days he took to finish work

Calculations :

Total work = LCM of 60 and 45

⇒ 180 units

Ram's per day work = 180/60 = 3 units

Shyam's per day work = 180/45 = 4 units

Ram and Shyam per day work = 3 + 4 = 7 units

70% of the work is completed together

70% of the work = 70% of 180 units

⇒ 126 units

Time taken by Ram and Shyam to complete this work = 126/7

⇒ 18 days

Now remaining work is completed by Ram alone

Remaining work = 180 - 126 = 54 units

Number of days taken by Ram = 54/3 = 18 days

Total number of days Ram worked = 18 + 18

⇒ 36 days

∴ Ram worked for a total of 36 days
