Given:

Total students = 235

Increased = 22

Expenses = + 76

Calculation:

Let total expenditure be 235X

⇒ Expenditure increase = 235X + 76

⇒ (235X + 76)/(235 + 22) = X – 2

⇒ 235X + 76 = 257X – 514

⇒ 22X = 590

⇒ X = 26.81

⇒ X ≈ Rs 27

Approximate original expenditure = 27 × 235

∴ Total original expenditure is Rs 6345.
