Correct Answer - Option 3 : Gun metal

Explanation:

The alloy of copper, tin, and zinc is known as Gun Metal.

Gun Metal

  • Gun Metal contains 88% copper, 10% tin and 2% zinc.
  • Zinc is added to cleanse the metal and increase its fluidity.
  • It is used extensively for casting boiler fittings, bushes, glands, etc

Brass:

  • An alloy of copper and zinc.
  • Copper and zinc are used in different proportions depending upon the use of Alloy.
  • Used in making jewelry, rivets, condenser tubes exposed to saltwater.

Muntz Metal

  • Muntz metal is also a type of brass that contains 40% zinc and 60% Copper with excellent tensile strength and lesser ductility.
  • It is also known as yellow metal.
  • The addition of 1% tin to Muntz metal increases corrosion resistance to marine environments and the Brass called Naval brass.

Babbitt metal

  • Babbitt metal is a soft, white non-ferrous alloy that is used to provide a bearing surface.
  • Babbitt metal also has properties that help it reduce friction which makes it a good material for use in a plain bearing.
  • Babbitt metal is tin and lead-based alloy
    • Tin based Babbitt metal contains Sn (Tin) = 88%, Sb (antimony) = 8%, Cu (copper) = 4%. It possesses excellent antifriction properties and sufficient mechanical strength, so most commonly used in bearing metal.
    • Lead based Babbitt metal contains Pb (Lead) = 85%, Sb (antimony) = 10%, Cu (copper) = 5%

Monel metal

  • Monel metal is an important alloy of nickel and copper.
  • It contains 68% nickel, 29% copper, and 3% other constituents like iron, manganese, silicon, and carbon.
