Calculate the work done when: 

(i) A 5kg weight is lifted 10m vertically. (g = 9.8m/s2

(ii) A car is moved on a rough road through 30m against a frictional resistance of 75N.

(i) Force = m x g = 5 x 9.8 = 49N; Distance = 10m

∴ Work done = F x d = 49 x 10 = 490J.

(ii) Resisting force = 75N; Distance moved = 30m

∴ work done = 75 x 30J = 2250J.
