Correct Answer - Option 3 : Rs. 5000

Given:

Manoj received Rs.6000 as his share.

The total profit is Rs.9000.

Manoj invested Rs.20000 for 6 months

Concept Used:

P1 : P2 = I1 × T1 : I2 × T2

P = Profit, I = Investment, T = Time

Calculation:

Manoj received profit of Rs.6000.

Ramesh received profit = 9000 - 6000 = Rs.3000

Manoj invested Rs.20000 for 6 months.

Let the investment amount of Ramesh be x.

⇒ P1 : P2 = I1 × T1 : I2 × T2

⇒ 6000 : 3000 = 20000 × 6 : x × 12

⇒ 2 = 10000/x

⇒ x = Rs.5000

∴ The amount invested by Ramesh is  Rs.5000.
