A ball of mass 0.20kg is thrown vertically upward with an initial velocity of 20m/s. Calculate the maximum potential energy it gains as it goes up.

Maximum kinetic energy = 1/2mv2 = 1/2 x 0.20 x 20 x 20 = 40J

According to conservation of energy

Max. potential enegry = Max. kinetic energy = 40J.
