  • Background:
    • The Quit India resolution was passed by the Executive on 14 July 1942 in the Special Wardha session of the Congress.
    • It was accepted by the Congress Working Committee on 8 August 1942 in Mumbai after making amendments.
    • Mahatma Gandhiji gave the slogan of 'Do or Die' in this movement.
    • Wardhan session was attended by Pandit Ravi Shankar Shukla, Ghanshyam Singh Gupta, Barrister Chedilal, Mahant Laxminarayan, Yatiyatanlal from Chhattisgarh.
    • These leaders were arrested by the British on 9 August 1942 at a place called Malkhanpur, during the return from the session.

  •  Raipur:
    • Revolutionaries: Kamal Narayan Sharma, Ranveer Singh Shastri, Jai Narayan Pandey, Tretanath Tiwari, Bhagwati Charan Shukla.
    • On 9 August 1942, Congress took out a procession in Raipur with slogans of 'Britishers Quit India'.
    • Students of Chhattisgarh College Educational Institute participated extensively in Quit India Movement.
    • Raipur Deputy Commissioner at the time of the Quit India Movement was RK Patil.
  • Bilaspur:
    • Revolutionaries: Barristers Chedilal, Kalicharan, Yadunandan Prasad, Rajkishore Verma.
    • Tricolour hoisted at district office in Bilaspur.
  • Durg:
    • ​Revolutionaries: Narsingh Prasad, Ganesh Prasad, Ratnakar Jha, Raghunandan Singhrol.
  • During the Quit India Movement, the publication of the magazine 'Aagrdoot' in Chhattisgarh was published by Keshav Prasad and 'Janmat' magazine was published by Jai Narayan Pandey.
