Correct Answer - Option 4 : 800

Given:

One candidate got 25% votes

Loss by 400 votes

Calculation:

Let total number of votes be 100x

One candidates got 25% = 100x × 25/100

⇒ 25x      ----(1)

Other candidate got = 100x – 25x

⇒ 75x      ----(2)

According to question

⇒ 75x – 25x = 400

⇒ 50x = 400

⇒ x = 8

Total number of votes = 100x = 100 × 8

⇒ 800

Total number of votes are 800
