Correct Answer - Option 2 : 51, 75

The correct answer is 51, 75.

  • The Gramdan idea took birth in 1952, in the midst of Vinoba Bhave's Bhoodan campaign in Uttar Pradesh.
  • On 24 May 1952, the entire population of the village Mangroth donated their lands to bhoodan.
  • The second Gramdan in the country was obtained in Manpur in Cuttack district, Odisha.
  • Vinoba Bhave further put forward the scheme of ‘Sulabh Gramdan’, whose main features were as follows:
    • A village is declared as Gramdan when at least 75% of its residents signify their approval in writing to the above conditions.
    • It should also include a sufficient number of landowners so as to enable at least 51% of the total land belonging to resident owners to be covered under Gramdan.
    • Five per cent of the land vested in the gram sabha would be given to the landless.
    • The remaining 95 per cent of the land would remain with the original owners and their descendants.
    • However, it can be transferred within the village only, and that too with the permission of the gram sabha.
    • The villagers would give 2.5 per cent of their earnings or produce to the gram sabha with which the ‘gram-kosh’ would be formed.

  • Acharya Vinoba Bhave was the First Person to Receive Magasasay Award.
  • He was also the first Individual Satyagrahi of Individual Civil Disobedience/ Individual Satyagraha of 1940
  • He was followed soon by many more, including Nehru and Patel.
