Correct Answer - Option 5 : None of the above

Calculation:

Let the marked price of the jeans be Rs. 200.

Then the marked price of the shirt will be Rs. 300.

Discounted price of Jeans = 200 × 60/100

⇒ 120

Let the discounted price of the shirt be x.

According to the question,

⇒ 120 + x = 60/100 × (200 + 300)

⇒ 120 + x = 300

⇒ x = 180

Discounted offered on the Shirt

⇒ (300 - 180)/300 × 100

⇒ 40%

If the overall discount is 40% and the discount on one part is also 40% then naturally the discount on the second part is also 40%.
