The National Commission for Backward Classes Act (1993)

  • This Act is to constitute a National Commission for Backward Classes other than the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes and to provide for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.
  • It is under India's Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.
  • The NCBC Bill, passed by the Parliament of India inserted Article 338B.

Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation Act) (1986)

  • This Act prohibits the engagement of children in certain employments and regulates the conditions of work of children in certain other employments.
  • As per the Child labour act, a child is defined as any person below the age of 14, which prohibits the employment of a child in any employment including as domestic help (an exception to family-owned business and child actor).

Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunities, Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act (1995)

  • This act gives effect to the Proclamation on the Full Participation and Equality of the People with Disabilities in the Asian and Pacific Region.
  • The act was replaced by the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.
The National Commission for Minorities Act (1992)
  • The commission works for the development of the recognized minorities in India.
  • Currently, the commission works under the Ministry of Minorities.
  • The six religious communities were notified as minority communities in India: Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Zoroastrians/Parsis, Jains (Notified as a minority on 27th June 2014).
