Correct Answer - Option 1 : Kangchenjunga

The Correct Answer is Kangchenjunga.

  • Kangchenjunga is the third highest mountain in the world. Kangchenjunga is the highest peak in India and the Easternmost peak of a Himalayan peak.
  • It rises at an altitude of 8,586 m in a part of the Himalayas called the Kangchenjunga Himal, bordered by the Tamur River to the west, the Lhonak Chu and Jongsang La to the north, and the Teesta River to the east.
  • It is located between Nepal and Sikkim, India, with three of the five peaks directly on the border (Main, Central and South) and the remaining two (West and Kangbachen) in the Taplejung District of Nepal.
  • Kangchenjunga was first climbed by Joe Brown and George Band on 25 May 1955, who was part of the 1955 British expedition to Kangchenjunga.
  • Bhutan, China, India, and Nepal share the Kangchenjunga transboundary landscape, comprising 14 protected areas with a total of 6,032 km2.

  • Trisul is a group of three western Kumaun Himalayan mountain peaks, with the highest (Trisul I) reaching 7120m. The three peaks resemble a trident - Trishula, a trident, is Shiva's shield in Hindi/Sanskrit. The Trishul group, about 15 kilometres (9 mi) west-southwest of Nanda Devi itself, forms the southwest corner of the ring of peaks surrounding the Nanda Devi Sanctuary.
  • After Kangchenjunga, Nanda Devi is the second-highest mountain in India and the highest one located entirely within the country.
  • Kamet, after Nanda Devi, is the second tallest mountain in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand, India. It lies in Uttarakhand's Chamoli District.
