Best answer
Correct Answer - Option 3 : Rs.700

Given:

⇒ Total investment of Som = 900 × 4 + 600 × 8 = Rs.8400

Let initial investment of Tom be Rs.m.

⇒ Total investment of Tom = m × 5 + (m + 300) × 7 = Rs.(12m + 2100)

Then,

⇒ 3240 : 7290 = 8400 : (8400 + 12m + 2100)

Solving,

⇒ m = 700

∴ Initial investment of Tom is Rs.700.
