  • The Longest-serving Speaker of Lok Sabha is Balram Jakhar.
    • Balram Jakhar was an Indian politician, parliamentarian and Governor of Madhya Pradesh.
    • He was elected to the seventh Lok Sabha from Ferozepur in 1980.
    • Re-elected to the eighth Lok Sabha from Sikar in 1984.
    • He served twice as Speaker of Lok Sabha from 1980 to 1989, a rare achievement in Indian parliament history, thus became the longest speaker of the Lok Sabha.
    • He promoted Parliament library, reference, research, documentation and information services for the knowledge and use of members of Parliament.
