Given:

Average age of employees = 42 years

The ratio of the average age of males to that of females = 6 : 5

Calculation:

Let, total employees be 100

⇒ 60% are male = 60 male 

⇒ 40% are female = 40 female

According to question

⇒ Ratio of average age of male to famale = 6x : 5x

⇒ Total age of male = 60 × 6x = 360x

⇒ Total age of female = 40 × 5x = 200x

⇒ 360x + 200x = 42 × 100

⇒ 560x = 4200

⇒ x = 7.5

⇒ Average age of male = 6x = 6 × 7.5

⇒ 45 years

∴ Average age of male employees is 45 years
