Correct Answer - Option 3 : 15.4%

Given:

Selling price of article = 575

Marked price of article = 850

Successive discounts = 20% and X%

Formula used:

S.P = markup – discount

Percent discount = discount/M.P × 100

Calculation:

M.P of article = 850

Value of article after discount of 20% = 850 – 20% of 850 = 850 – 170 = 680

Now, new marked price of an article = 680

⇒ S.P = 575

Discount = 680 – 575 = 105

Discount% = 105/680 × 100 = 15.4%

∴ The value of X is 15.4%.
