Correct Answer - Option 2 : Rs. 10,000

Given:

Incomes of (A + B) = 50000

40% of A’s income = 60% of B’s income

Formula used:

Income = Expenditure + savings

Let, income of A = X and income of B = Y

X + Y = 50000     ---- (1)

Now, 40% of X = 60% of Y

⇒ 40/100 × X = 60/100 × Y

⇒ 2X/5 = 3Y/5

⇒ 2X = 3Y or X = 3/2 × Y

From eqn. (1)

3Y/2 + Y = 50000

⇒ 5Y/2 = 50000

⇒ Y = 10000 × 2 = 20000

⇒ Y = 20000 and X = 3/2 × 20000 = 30000

Therefore, difference of their income = 30000 – 20000 = 10000
