  • NITI Aayog released the second edition of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) India Index in 2019  which broadly documents the progress made by India’s States and Union Territories towards achieving the 2030 SDG targets.

  • This index has been developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI), the United Nations in India, and the Global Green Growth Institute.
  • Kerala achieved the first rank in the SDG Index followed by Himachal Pradesh. Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu.
  • The biggest improved state since 2018 was UP, Orissa and Sikkim.
