Correct Answer - Option 2 : 22.5%

Given:

A shopkeeper purchased a chair marked at Rs. 900.

Two successive discount of 25% and 15% respectively.

Concept used:

successive discount = x + y – (x × y)/100

Profit% = {(selling price – cost price)/cost price}× 100

Calculation:

Marked price of chair = Rs. 900

After successive discount on Marked price gives cost price

⇒ 25 + 15 – (25 × 15)/100

⇒ 36.25%

After applying

⇒ Marked price × (100 – discount)/100

⇒ 900 × (100 – 36.25)/100

⇒ Rs. 573.75

After Transportation charges, C.P

⇒ 573.75 + 26.25

⇒ Rs. 600

Profit% = {(selling price – cost price)/cost price}× 100

⇒ {(735 – 600)/600}× 100

⇒ 22.5%

∴ His gain percentage was 22.5%.
