Correct Answer - Option 4 : All of the above

Explanation:

  • FERTILIZERS :
    • Fertilizers are chemical compounds that are applied to crops in order to improve their production.
    • Farmers use these to increase crop yield.
    • The fertilizers provide the nutrients that plants need, such as nitrogen, potassium, and phosphorus.
    • Fertilizers can be obtained from natural as well as synthetic sources.
    • Due to their increased demands, they are produced synthetically in factories.
    • Nitrogen, Calcium oxide (CaO), and Calcium cyanamide (CaNCN) are used as fertilizers.
NITROGEN
  • Ammonia (NH3) developed by the Haber-Bosch process is used to make nitrogen fertilizers.
  • Many other nitrogen fertilizers, such as anhydrous ammonium nitrate (NH4NO3) and urea (CO(NH2)2), use this ammonia as a feedstock.
  • Nitrogen fertilizers contain nitrogen, which is needed for crop production.
  • Nitrogen is the primary component of chlorophyll, which helps to maintain equilibrium during the photosynthesis process.
  • It is also a component of plant amino acids and protein.
  • Nitrogen fertilizers increase agricultural product production and quality.

CALCIUM OXIDE

    (CaO)

  • Agricultural lime is a soil additive produced from pulverized limestone or chalk.
  • It is also known as aglime, agricultural limestone, garden lime, or liming.
  • Calcium carbonate is the main active ingredient.
  • Calcium oxide is one of the additional chemicals that are present depending on the mineral source.

CALCIUM CYANAMIDE

(CaNCN)

  • Calcium cyanamide is primarily used as a fertilizer in agriculture.
  • When it comes into contact with water, it decomposes and releases ammonia, hence providing plants the form of ammonia that is usable for them.

As, all three - Nitrogen, Calcium oxide (CaO), and Calcium cyanamide (CaNCN) - are used as fertilizers.
