Correct Answer - Option 1 : Arrhenius

Explanation -

      Svante              Arrhenius

Got the Nobel prize for chemistry in 1903 (the first Swedish to get a noble prize).

His theory is called the Arrhenius theory or ionic theory of acids or bases.

According to the Arrhenius principle, acid is a substance that, when dissolved in an aqueous solution, produces H+ ions. The concentration of H+ ions in the solution rises as a result.

The base is a substance that, when dissolved in an aqueous solution, ionizes the OH– ion. The solution contains a high concentration of OH- ions.

Johannes Bronsted and Thomas Martin Lowry

The Bronsted–Lowry theory (also known as the proton theory of acids and bases) is an acid-base reaction theory that was independently introduced in 1923 by Johannes Nicolaus Brnsted and Thomas Martin Lowry.

The basic idea behind this theory is that when an acid and a base react, the acid forms its conjugate base and the base forms its conjugate acid through proton exchange.

Gilbert Lewis

He established the electron-pair theory of acid–base reactions in 1923.

A "Lewis acid" is an electron-pair acceptor in this theory of acids and bases, and a "Lewis base" is an electron-pair donor.

  • As the ionic theory of acids and bases is given by Svante Arrhenius, it is the correct option.
