Correct Answer - Option 1 : Only a

The correct answer is Only a.

  • Subsidies are akin to steroids as prescriptions. Since subsidies have short-term benefits but in long term (as in the case of steroids) it is not good for the economic health of the country. Hence the statement 'a' is correct.
  • Steroids play critical roles in a number of disorders, including malignancies like prostate cancer, where steroid production inside and outside the tumour promotes cancer cell aggressiveness.
  • Hence, Steroids promise enduring cure is not a correct statement.

  • Steroids are a man-made version of chemicals, known as hormones, that are made naturally in the human body.
  • Steroids are designed to act like these hormones to reduce inflammation.
  • They're also known as corticosteroids and are different from anabolic steroids used by bodybuilders and athletes to boost their performance.
  • Side effects of steroid tablets can include:
    • Indigestion or heartburn.
    • Increased appetite, which could lead to weight gain.
    • Difficulty sleeping.
    • Changes in mood and behaviour, such as feeling irritable or anxious
    • An increased risk of infections – especially chickenpox, shingles and measles
    • High blood sugar or diabetes.
    • The weakening of the bones (osteoporosis)
    • High blood pressure.
