Correct Answer - Option 1 : Cultural

Political boundaries are created in a variety of ways and for different reasons. As a result, there are several types of boundaries found around the world. These include Cultural, Complex, antecedent, superimposed, subsequent, consequent, and geometric boundaries.

  • cultural boundary, or cultural area, defines a geographic area wherein a group of people share the same cultural practices and traditions. These aspects could include language, ethnicity, and religion. Some cultural boundaries might correspond with the boundaries on a geopolitical map, but there can also be several cultural boundaries within a state, nation, or continent.
  • The International boundary between India and Pakistan was demarcated after the partition is a good example of a Cultural type of boundary.

Antecedent Boundaries

  • Antecedent boundaries existed before the present settlement. These are often based on landforms, such as mountains.
  • The Andes Mountains form the eastern boundary of Chile, separating it from neighbouring Argentina and Bolivia.

Consequent Boundaries

  • Consequent boundaries are drawn in order to separate groups based on ethnic, linguistic, religious, or economic differences.
  • The boundary between India and current-day Pakistan was created to separate the main religions in the region, Hindu and Islam.
