Inside walls of two rooms of internal dimensions 3 m × 4 m and 4 m × 5 m are to be plastered using 1 ∶ 6 cement sand mortar. Height of the rooms is 3 m. What is approximate cost of plastering the walls if the rate quoted by a contractor for plastering is Rs. 1,000/- per square meter? Consider total two doors of size 1.2 m × 2 m and four windows of size 1.5 m × 1.5 m are provided and they all are in different walls.

(Rate quoted by the contractor is all inclusive i.e. labour, material, etc.)

Best answer
Correct Answer - Option 2 : Rs. 82,200

Explanation:

Total wall area \(= \left[ {\begin{array}{*{20}{c}} {\left( {3 \times 3} \right) \times 2 + \left( {4 \times 3} \right) \times 2}\\ \downarrow \\ {Room\;\left( 1 \right)} \end{array}} \right] + \left[ {\begin{array}{*{20}{c}} {\left( {4 \times 3} \right) \times 2 + 5 \times 3 \times 2}\\ \downarrow \\ {Room\;\left( 2 \right)} \end{array}} \right]\)

Total wall area = 96 m2

Total door area = 2 × 1.2 × 2 = 4.8 m2

Total window area = 4 × 1.5 × 1.5 = 9 m2

Area over which plastering to be done wall area – opening area

Cost of plastering of 1 sq.m is = Rs. 1000

∴ Total cost = Rs. 1000 × 82.2 = 82200 /-
