In a one day match Team A scored 298 runs. Team B scored runs in 24 overs with run rate of 6.5. What should be the required run rate to win the game?

Correct Answer - Option 3 : 5.5

Given:

The score required to win the game is 299.

Current run rate is 6.5 in 24 overs.

Formula used:

Average = sum of observation/total number of observation

Calculation:

Runs scored till 24 overs = 6.5 × 24 = 156

Required runs = 299 – 156 = 143

Over left = 50 – 24 = 26 overs. 

Required run rate = 143/26 

⇒ 5.5 runs per over

∴ The required run rate for team B to win the game is 5.5 runs per over.
