Correct Answer - Option 2 : MLT-1

The correct answer is MLT-1.

  • The dimension of a physical quantity is the powers to which the fundamental quantities are raised for the representation of that quantity
  • Impulse:
    • When a large force acts for a very small time, it causes a change in the momentum. This is called Impulse.
    • Impulse(J) = Force x time duration = Change in momentum.
    • Dimension = MLT-1.
  • The dimension of Impulse is the same as momentum.

  • Momentum:
    • The momentum of a body is defined to be the product of its mass m and velocity v and is denoted by p.
    • p = mass x velocity.
  • MLT-2  is the dimensional formula of Force.
