In a one day match, Team A scored 279 runs. While chasing the score Team B lost 3 wickets in 20 overs with a current run rate of 5.6 runs per over. Each upcoming batsman should score x runs to win the game. Find the value of x?

Correct Answer - Option 3 : 24

Given:

Total overs = 5 overs

Target = 280 runs

Lost 3 wickets in 20 

Current run rate = 5.6 runs per over.

Formula used:

Current run rate(C.R.R) = Run scored/overplayed

Calculation:

⇒ Run scored = C.R.R × overplayed

⇒ Run scored = 5.6 × 20 = 112

Required runs = 280 - 112 = 168 runs

Wickets left = 10 - 3 = 7 wickets in hand.

Each player should score x runs

⇒ x = 168/7 = 24 runs

∴ Each upcoming player should score 24 runs each to win the game.
