Correct Answer - Option 4 : 50

Given :

The mixture contains 46 litres of water.

The mixture contains ‘x’ litres of milk, which is 25% of the total amount

The mixture contains 23 litres of orange juice.

Concept used :

Percentage of the given component in the mixture = (Amount of the given component/Total amount of all the components) × 100

Calculations :

The total amount of all the components = Total amount of water, milk and orange juice

⇒  46 + x + 23     (water = 46 liters, milk = x liters and orange juice = 23 liters)

⇒ (69 + x) litres

Now, according to the question

25 = x/(x + 69) × 100     (Formula given above for percentage of the component)

25/100 = x/(x + 69)

1/4 = x/(x + 69)

⇒ x = 23 liters

Now

Percentage of milk of the total amount of water = (Amount of milk/ Amount of water) × 100

⇒ (23/46) × 100      (Amount of milk = 23 litres and amount of water = 46 litres)

⇒ (1/2) × 100

⇒ 50%

∴ The amount of milk is 50% of the amount of water
