Correct Answer - Option 2 : 640

Given:

First student gets 30% and failed by 8 marks

Another student gets 40% and passed by 56 marks

Calculation:

Let the total marks be x

So according to question,

40x/100 - 56 = 30x/100 + 8

⇒ 40x/100 - 30x/100 = 64

⇒ x/10 = 64

⇒ x = 640

∴ The maximum marks = 640
